new year's plans
so, i think this is the year that i am going to do it. i think i am finally going wean myself off of gaming, or at least off of serious gaming. the counter-strike:source server i usually play on sort of took a dive over the holidays, and since it is pretty damn hard to find a decent group of regulars to play with these days, i think that might be a good sign to hang up the old 6600gt and ease off a bit. i still have a bit more BF2:SF to play around with, but it is such a damn resource hog that it's barely playable, even on my rig. i figure that i've spent enough money and time upgrading and upgrading and upgrading over the years, enough is enough.
while i am at it, since i spend most of my time in the open source world these days anyway, i think it might also be time to put win32 in the backseat as well. the gaming was my main reason for sticking with windows anyway, and since i have a windows box at work where i do most of my IE testing, I might as well dual-boot at home and try to stay in ubuntu most of the time. the only thing i would really worry about would be the GIMP. i hope it's grown up some more since the last time i used it. even if it doesn't, guess i can always keep my ibook with PS 7 handy. we shall see.
also, i am thinking of shaving the goatee. goodnight!
